Obama is indeed changing the tone in Washington. His efforts to include and take suggests wins my respect.
He also met with the Repbulicans (not the same thing as conservative now) right after not one of them voted for the bill. That’s Big.
Now some construct criticism of Congress ( Although some of the Blame does go to Obama). But I am really upset with Congress.
The Bill is just to large. That’s a philosophical difference with the Congress, the Congress won’t change that. I must be consistent and decry pork. But the nature of a stimulus bill now is defined as pork. Pork feels good but it going to give us a heart attack. In fact it is the same pork that got us into this mess. People are loaning money to the US and we are the country that will be foreclosed. Works on the micro level and it will work on the government level. (or not work as the case may be.)
So America wants pork does it? Well if we have to involve government ( hello progressives) lets at least do a Manhattan project to inject capital. Not the dribs and draps that this bill gives. Hello energy projects, lets give government grants to build current technology solar heat plants and transmission lines in Arizona, Solar plants in Nevada, Some Nuclear plants on the SITE in Idaho IEENL or what ever the current name is for that place. INL maybe. They have a lot of reactors out there but none are for power. Permission to drill off the coast of Californa and force the state to take a deal simular to Alaska’s ( thats right force thats what big government does.) They will screw something up because the’re not close to the problem but hey it’s interstate commerce so they say the can regulate it. Nice little looppole that was ment to give some cohesion to trade not take states rights. I don’t like how that sounds but thats not conservitism. Thats what you get with big government. They best would be self regulateing capitalism but current EPA regs has that avenue tied up. Not to mention the CEO’s didn’t self regulate so now we all are going to suffer ineffienct lunnacy of government interference in trade. Not that I mind EPA regs but they really should listen less to the people that are no Oil at any price. Retrofit the 7000 dams that are not currently energy generating that would be a good place to spend money. You build a gigwatt of wind energy and if companies what the slightly more expensive underground air storage you put some real money into the economy immediately.
What I am getting from this bill that passed or more accurately the senate version that I am more familar with , is that we are getting a spending bill full of fuzzy wuzzys that won’t put money into the economy until later. For example the tax cuts for me (poor) are nice and amount to a welfare check for me. But that’s not building our base output is it. Unless I spend it on a solar power plant. Problem is classic capitalism. I don’t get enough to cover the start up cost so I won’t spend it on solar. So there is no base increase. So I am going to spend it on say taco bell. Good for the economy for six months but it really didn”t increase production of a product that will continue to put things to work. Its a net consumable not a producer (I made up those terms that sound tech but they got the point acrossed) You need capital to produce, not the fuzzy wuzzy for me. Our economy can’t grow on fuzzy wuzzys and increasing the debt to do it isn’t smart. World War two increased debt but by golly our steel industry grew and the factories could produce tractors to increase the farms output.
Food Stamp, a necessary fuzzy wuzzy (or is it? what happened to private giving?) It gives out consumables. Same with other entitlements.
Not to metion the classic entitlement trap. If you forget the value of work, then what is your incentive to get off Food stamps. If you give to people in need through the government, you don’t personally feel that. Where is the blessing from our God? He isn’t going to bless an individual for not giving but having something taken from them. The government robs us literally of money and the blessing of giving that money. That is the principle of Acting or being Acted upon. If we don’t act individually and we always let government (or whoever) do it, we lose our rights and freedoms to let them. Thats what the CEO’s did failed to act and self regulate. ( I contend with the government egging them on) The more they do the more they have the right to dictate logical arguments like the right to have children. Children cost money if you have more children we have more educational costs cause we control the schools (poor performance in that) so we have the right to spend your tax money on birthcontrol and give our new money to Big or small drug to keep you from haveing children. Makes sense but its insane to give them that power.
That’s the situations we are building with this bill. Unemployment 200 billion ( you work where we tell you) to name another example.
So in this bill I have covered the contraceptives, (Pelosi’s gave in and took them out) The entitlements, (food stamps, welfare, unemployment) , and the lack of imediate spending on infrastructure ( but haven’t got to the smart grid) and Tax cuts that don’t help the nation and they don’t help the rich who pay our saleries.
The Smart Grid, touted as the energy infrastructure they are doing. My problem is that this is 30 billion for research or is it 50 billion? My point is that is a drop in the bucket compared to what they are spending on the fuzzy wuzzys welfare. 300 to 500 billion in this bill. And its not building any power plants and it calls for building 3000 miles of transmition lines. But the industry newsletter from gobal spec that I got said they need estimated 12000 miles. Sorry Arizona Cally supports the presidents politics more and has more people. Not fair. No new production is being built to boot. We could build a lot of energy plants by giveing the money to evil companys like Halaburton or we can get research. My argument is research is a long term help. I thought this was the first installment of a near term stimulas.
What else is in this bill? What do we say when we call ( we should on this one) our congress? Who is talking to us and listening to us. This bill is being passed fast. All the R’s and 11 of the D’s said no. Why? Didn’t Obama say something like when you pass a bill this fast there is always mistakes. What bill did he say that about? ( I beleive the US Patriot act or was it the Iraq War?) What do we say? Our freedom is on the line. What is the government going to have a say in? Banks, Transportation, Charitable giveing, the press (yea the bailout of the gray lady is coming folks). Lets see money is power, transportation is critical, Charitable giving and work ethic is criticul to us being a healthy nation. This is not a good trend. Ball out the Local Newspapers do you think the Government will bail them out and allow critism of the current leaders. I don’t think so. There’s our first amendment powers. How much is our government going to control in the name of stimulas. They blackmailed Citigroup into negociateing morgages. What did Bush get us into, and Obama is continueing the Spending and tripleing it? But Obama is just the President the real blame lives with Congress both with this Admistration and the Last one. I am Fed up, to pun on purpose.
PS there is an issue on every line I won’t be offended if you comment on only on issue.
